NCLD Parent Advocacy Academy, May 11 @ 1 pm

The National Center for Learning Disabilities is hosting an Advocate Academy for the parents and advocates of children with learning and attention issues. This is a free, educational seminar hosted by ncld.org to connect, educate and empower parents to advocate for their children at school and in life. We hope, through providing a wide variety of education, sharing answers to FAQ’s and best practices, to give every parent the knowledge and confidence to advocate for the needs of the 1 in 5 children with learning and attention issues.

Topics covered will be: Learning and Attention Issues 101, Advocating for Strength Based IEPs, Bullying and the Basics of Advocacy- both little “a” and big “A”.

Refreshments will be served.

2019 Parent Survey

Brenda Carter
Director of Special Education

We still have 5 weeks to collect responses for the 2019 Parent Survey. We have roughly 15,000 students with disabilities in Cobb County School District. Out of the 15,000 we have had 1030 parent survey’s completed. It’s not a lot, but it is more than in past years. 2018 we only had 946 parent survey’s completed and in 2017 we only had 452 parent survey’s completed.   We would like one more BIG push to increase the participation number and get your valuable feedback. We would like to encourage you as our parent voices to take a moment to complete the 2019 Parent Survey.  The more information we have to work with, the better we can implement strategies to help achieve a better educational experience. This will help us not only gather data to improve your programs and policies, but build a foundation for trust with parents and students alike.

Data to consider:

2019 –7.0% of families have completed the parent survey – year to date

2018 –6.5% of families completed the parent survey

2017 –3.0% of families completed the parent survey
