CCSD Transition to Life: Exploring The Possibilities, Thursday, October 13, 4:30 pm to 7 pm

The Cobb County School District along with the Marietta City School District is sponsoring a transition fair for students exploring postsecondary programs leading to college and career readiness.

Transition to Life: Exploring The Possibilities will be held Thursday October 13th, from 4:30-7:00 pm at Marietta High School located at 1171 Whitlock Avenue, NW, Marietta, Georgia 30064.

Speakers and vendors from the community will share and provide information about two year technical/college programs, four-year university programs, college inclusive postsecondary programs, college disability counselors, Cobb & Douglas County Community Services Board, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, Goodwill Industries, Roosevelt Warm Springs, and Cobb Performance Learning Center (PLC).

Speakers will begin thirty minute sessions at 4:30 p.m. The Vendor Fair will open at 4:30 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m. Click here to view the agenda.

CCSD Parent Program, Starting the New Year Right

Tonight was the first CCSD Parent Program meeting for the school year. Topics from tonight’s meeting included Establishing Routines and Navigating Parent-to-School Communication.

FREE Training on ADA & 504, September 22, 6 pm – 8 pm

Parent to Parent of Georgia is presenting a free training on Americans with Disabilities Act & 504.

  • Have you wondered how the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) impacts your child?
  • How is it different from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act(IDEA)?
  • How will it impact your child’s access to post-secondary education, employment and recreational and community settings?
  • What can Section 504 do for your child if he/she does not qualify for an IEP, but has a disability?

This free two-hour presentation will explain ADA and how it affects your child now and in the future, including the definition of disability under the ADA.
