This past week was School Board Member Appreciation Week.
I would like to take the time to personally thank Board Member David Morgan for all of his efforts with improving Special Education Services in Cobb County.
Last year David meet with a group of special needs parents who voiced their concerns with the special education services their children were receiving through CCSD.
David not only listened but acted on the issues and took the concerns to the Board and to the District. As a result, an independent evaluation was conducted on CCSD Special Education and the process of bringing about change began. Within the past year, the district has placed a local special education representative, Student Support Administrator (SSA), at mostly all schools, they have held 4 very informative parent events, and have hired 2 new parent mentors.
David also recognizes that this is not a one time fix but an ongoing process of systematic change. He has continued to reach out to parents for their feedback on the changes and on any other issues that still exist in how special education services are delivered in CCSD.
Thank you David for ensuring all students are educated in CCSD.
